At some point in our lives we’ve all had to multitask. Working full-time and being the mother of a very active three year old, I’ve tried to multitask. Sometimes I rock, sometimes I super suck.
This weekend, I failed.
I try to read as much as I can. This weekend I decided to take my current read, CITY OF BONES, and head outside in the backyard with my son. We have this toddler swing that he loves, so of course he wanted to go in.
Reading and pushing a swing? No problem.
I strap the little man in and push.
He turns around, sees me with a book in one hand while I push with the other.
“Push, Mommy!”
“I am.”
“Put book down.”
“But I can push with one hand.”
“Put book down!” And he points to the deck.
I hang my head, but obey.
How could I refuse this little guy?
While I didn’t get my way this weekend. I did enjoy a wonderful afternoon with my little man who is currently sitting on my lap as I type (he saw his picture and immediately had to know what I was doing).
What a sweet little guy. I HEAR you. I am a multi-tasking failure. I'm kind of getting the feeling that it's not possible. I have to remind myself every day to step away from the computer/phone/ipad and just look at my kids. Just interact with them. It's so hard. I fail at it every day, but some days I do okay.
It's not easy. My son used to hit my computer when he was two…that's when I knew I wasn't giving him enough time. Now, when I get home from work, I make sure to give him all my attention before I do anything else.
ADORABLE!!! He's a cutie. And yes – I do the same thing. In fact, I think my 8 yo has told me the same thing a few times. But it is good to just focus on one thing sometimes. Especially if the focus is family. (Okay, now I just need to tell this to myself!)
Easier said than done, right ; )
Greetings!
What a cutie! I'm hopping over from GUTGAA and have started visiting blogs early. Just wanted to let you know I have a contest going on at my blog…nice to meet you!

Hiya Donna!
Awwww… definitely worth putting the book down for. I think it's really hard not to try to multitask sometimes and do try more often then I should, but things like sweet kids are worth full attention. Unless of course, they're throwing a tantrum. 😉
Gotta love those tantrums. That's when I yell bedtime! Regardless of the time.
Been there. My daughter is starting kindergarten on Monday. Time flies. Your son will be in school soon, so enjoy these moments with him.
I made him promise me that when he's older he'll still snuggle with me. He said yes, but we'll see how he feels when he's sixteen : (
